Absolutely not. Declutter runs 100% locally on your Mac. Your files, thumbnails, and search queries never leave your device. We use Apple's on-device Neural Engine for all AI processing—no internet connection required after installation.
Declutter works with all common file types: documents (PDF, Word, Excel), images (JPG, PNG, HEIC, RAW), videos, audio files, archives (ZIP, DMG), and more. You can create custom rules for any file extension.
Yes! Every action is logged in the History panel. You can undo any move with a single click, even days later. We also offer a "Dry Run" mode that shows you what would happen before any files are actually moved.
Declutter only moves files—it never deletes anything unless you explicitly configure a "move to Trash" rule. All operations are reversible through the History panel, and we recommend starting with our safe default rules.
Declutter is optimized for Apple Silicon and uses minimal resources. The background watcher typically uses less than 100MB of RAM. AI processing only activates when new files appear, so battery impact is negligible.
